Taking a Swan to the Stand
The Lincolnshire Hospital’s Brass Band played a variety of songs new and old at Peasholme Park in Scarborough in July. Playing regularly at many bandstands around the UK we can honestly say we have never had to take a swan to the band stand before! It was a great day and we appreciated the support as we made our voyage, even when the motor packed up in the Swan!
To the tune of ‘didn’t we have a lovely day…’
Didn’t we have lovely time the day we went to Scarborough,
We climbed on the coach and arrived on time
Under the care of Trevor’s coach company.
Across the lake on the motorised swan
Twas hilarious as the motor gave up
And we were towed by a young man in a rowing boat
For the rest of the day!
The music was light and lively
Thanks to the support of our guest players
And enjoyed by the attending crowd.
On the way back we stopped at the shop for
A very large portion of fish and chips
Then a sleep on the coach finished off the day nicely.
